Precautions for silage

The first, seize the moment. When the whole corn was harvested at the right time, the first choice was to see the maturity of the fruit. Second, look at the proportion of yellow leaves, "yellow leaves poor, green leaves good, each half slightly older".

The second, stay hydrated. Silage raw material moisture content of 65% - 70% of the silage corn produced the best quality.

The third, cut short. It is generally recommended to cut the silage corn straw into about 1-2 cm, and the cutting length can be appropriately changed according to the water content of whole corn and corn seeds, corn varieties, etc.

The fourth, eliminate air. The process of silage should be "harvest, cut and install at the same time" to shorten the process of plant respiration. When filling raw materials to layer upon layer of smoothness, compaction, especially to pay attention to the peripheral parts. When loading layer by layer, note that each layer is 15-20 cm thick until it is filled to the cellar. The pressed material should be level with the pit mouth, slightly high in the middle, and then covered with a plastic film, which is pressed 30-50 cm thick on the wet soil. All in all, we should do "six follow three". "Six-step" means to be collected, transported, guillotined, installed, stepped and sealed; "Three wants" is must cut short, must compress, must seal tightly.

The fifth, create the right temperature. The temperature of the silage should be controlled in 20 ℃ to 30 ℃. At this temperature, the lactic acid bacteria can multiply.

The sixth, routine maintenance. After the silage material is sealed, the roof and surrounding of the silo should be inspected frequently, the damaged plastic film should be filled in timely, the rat hole should be filled, and the rain water and melted snow water should be strictly prevented to flow into the cellar, so as to damage the grass quality.
